Chapter 5

Ralph is walking along the beach thinking of many things. First of all, he is getting very tired of his hair, which has grown so long it hang down in his eyes. He is also worried about the other boys because they all seem to be out of line. He decides to call another meeting later that night.

Ralph starts talking about how the boys do not do what they are suppose to do anymore. They have been neglecting the fire, not getting drinking water. and not using the bathroom in the designated area. He does his best to show the importance of all these rules and why they have to do them. Him, Jack, and Piggy all tell the littluns that the beasties are not real and there is nothing to worry about. The littluns remain scared anyway. One littlun claims to have seen the beasty and says it comes out of the water at night. Jack immediately says there is a beast and him and his hunters leave to go hunt. Ralph, Piggy, and Simon are the only three left sitting there in silence.
